Wooden lamps range from being very rustic to highly refined in design.
With greater concern these days for the environment, wood table lamps are becoming more popular. They provide a natural element to an interior. You can easily find these lamps in modern, traditional, oriental, and contemporary styles. Wood lamps are created from a variety of different methods.
You can create a wood lamp fairly inexpensively using your own design or a piece of wood that has special character or meaning to you. I have seen a few nice looking lamps created out of driftwood or other pieces of interesting wood. The quality of the hardware and the lampshade are important factors as to whether the lamp looks great or like something that needs to be burned for fuel.
Often wood lamps are created by turning a piece of wood on a lathe. Depending on the type of wood these can be very rustic or not. Each wood table lamp can be unique – especially when the grain has various colorations and textures.
Probably one of the oldest methods of creating a wood base is through carving the wood by hand. The wood carving may be very simple or very intricate. Of course, the carving of wood was done before the concept of electricity was conceived.
