How do I determine the height of a lamp for a table?

I need to purchase two table lamps. Both tables are 30 inches tall. One is a sofa table, and the other is a small antique table. The lamps I have on both the tables are 28" tall. I’m looking at lamps that are 32" tall. Will they work?

Depends on the room. Eyeball it and check what would look right.
